  2. A simple timer to bring the lamp on then go off after 5 seconds, would
    do nicely.

I'm pretty sure this must be the case. The ABS warning light flashes on my
BMW when you turn on the ignition. If the system is working the ABS lights
will only go out once the diagnostic routine is completed. This only
happens if *both* wheels rotate at over 5mph and the correct number of
sensor pulses is read by the controller. As an MOT test bay can only rotate
1 wheel at a time the MOT tester could not do this without a road test.

As the ABS has not worked on my bike for 2 years I'm not complaining as I
have always been given a pass.

  5. Car ABS is testable, the warning light is part of the ABS system and if
it's not working correctly it's a fail. You'll find big posters at most
MOT stations detailing what the ABS light should show e.g. early Range
Rovers only extinguish them after 5mph.

    Bike ABS is not testable.

I'm a car MOT tester but I do know my way around the bike MOT manual.

The OP should still complain to VOSA 'cos he's been stitched up.

I questioned this on my K1100 three years ago, the MOT tester said
"ABS isn't part of a bike MOT".

Tester's a cock. Always thought this about Bishops of Bath anyway. Go
to Barton Motors or D&H; they'll be better.
