Ah, that was nice

At a loose end this afternoon so decided to take the bike out.

First time in ages I've been able to just go out for a ride without
worrying about affording the petrol for it.

Pottered up to Ironbridge and had a look at the bridge and gorge.
Even though it's not as big as you think it's going to be, it's still
    very impressive.

Came back down the M54 and popped over to Cannock Chase for a coffee
    and then back home.

Nice little run of 150 miles, I'm sure the bike felt smoother when I
got back, it hasn't done a trip of that length in a while.

If I'd have known, we could have met up. I was off work today.

Eeexcept I was in Wales, taking pictures.

Ah well, I only decided at 2.30 this afternoon that I wanted to go
    out.
Anything good? I took a few of the bridge but haven't looked to see
    if they're any good yet.

Needed to get away from the kids before I killed them so took the bike
    out. Twice.
EKS has it advantages to off set the scorn then.
That's an idea for a future ride. I headed up into Derbyshire. Lovely.
On the way out I was amused by the R1 rider with all the kit (logo
jacket etc) who whizzed past me on the A38 then couldn't (or wouldn't)
filter when he met the next set of traffic. So poddled past him up to
the lights. Then, when obviously trying to do the 'look how fast this
can go' thing failed to get away the lights. I'll admit to a moment of
smug satisfaction as I pulled away smoothly and peeled off before he
    got himself sorted out.
    So many possible lines...
I've still not been down there on the bike, it is on the list.
About a hundred first time then a short trip to go and pick up some
kit for this weekend - you get really funny looks when you have a
sword sticking out of your ruck sack.
Mine sounds better, it just needed a run to clear out the cobwebs. Now
it also needs a good clean, I popped in to see Amy who works at one of
the local training centres and she viciously attacked the bike with a
cloth and has made shiny bits but only done things like half a wheel.

I was out on the Duke today, for the first time in weeks. Nice day for
    it.

    I did wonder.

    Another time then, p'raps.
Not especially. I climbed up the waterfall (via the footpath, obviously) at
Llanrhaeader-ym-Mochnant for some watery landscapes. Fair knackered me out,
that did. Then over to Lake Vyrnwy for some more watery landscapes. Nothing
out of the ordinary that I'd consider putting into a competition (which was
the point of going). Did some still life stuff when I got home, though,
which came out rather better. All in all, about 180 digital shots and 72
slides. Not bad for a rest day.
I was down there a couple of weeks ago at 06:00 waiting for the sun to come
up on the bridge. Unfortunately, it couldn't be arsed at the time so nothing
much good there. Got a few better-than-mediocre shots of the Severn at
Leighton on the way home though.

Hmm. It's getting a bit obsessional, this is.

Babies are cute, teenagers are not. On returning they were still
annoying so I went out again. HTH.
