I am looking at a Super Cheap Auto catalogue and there are some cheap air
compressor for sale. Does anybody have one of these?

In the picture the compressor comes with Alligator clips for connecting to a
battery but it doesn't look like there is a power cord for a normal
powerpoint? Is there any easier of powering the unit rather than having a
    spare 12V battery?

    Go into Jaycar.

get a 240 power supply there - they have one as big as a book
(paperback) that will output (from memory) 9v, 13.3v and 16v).

Connect the alligator clips to it and away you go!

Does it go to 100 PSI?

I want to use it for my push bike aswell and people have been telling me
these don't go that high even though the advertisement claims they can?

Use a hand pump , after all the pushy is for exercise, so for a balanced
workout , use the arms for pumping.

Being too lazy to hand pump the pushbike tyres up to 60psi was a major
motivation for my purchase too. I don't know about 100psi but I don't doubt
it. It's a reasonable quality unit (metal case rather than the cheap plastic
screw together jobbies you see for $12). The box claims something over
100psi, I can't be bothered going to the garage and looking.

My cheapo plastic one seems to do fine on bicycle tyres, up to 75psi
very quickly (that's what the tyres are rated at, y'see, so no idea
beyond that). It does motorbike tyres pretty well too, and is real
good at pushing brake calipers out and inflating handgrips and stuff.
Worth all $12 I paid for it :)

  11. You could just put 50psi in the tyre twice.

How on earth do you use it to push brake calipers out?

Weeeeellll, it's one of those air pressure things. So you
poke some air down the wossname, and it pushes the pistons out.

Civilized folks use a proper air compressor: the little baby ones
    work even better.

I wouldn't bother with the guage meself. The tyre will
signal when it's over inflated by exploding all over the
shop. Save yourself those 'extra few bucks'.

GB, who had a pushbike tyre signal that it was overinflated
once. Twenny-five years ago probably. My ears are
    still ringing!

  16. I dunno if you've noticed but I usually wear my tyre tread down (dog shit is
a bitch to clean out of grooves) to the extreme. One time I rolled into a
dunny, with two foot thick stone walls, in a two foot thick stone walled
pub. Fuckin' tyre blew and echoed through most of the pub. Me and most of
the patrons thought I was being shot at. The Lebs thought we were shooting
    at them!
