http://www.motorcycleparking.com/ says there is free parking
for motor bicycles at terminal 2 at Gatwick.
Anyone here used it and if so was their bike
    a. still there on return.
    b. in much the same condition as they as rode it in.
    Any other comments gratefully received.
    Cheers.

A bit more dusty after a week or two, but otherwise; yes.
    a) might not apply for more nickable bikes, though.

How much per hour do they charge?

Dealers here get 75USD an hour.

A lot more than that - my BMW specialist (who's very good, but a
one-man band outside London) charges GBP45/hour and he's cheap.

Main dealer rates around London can top GBP100/hour...

Missed it, saw the bike sleeping in the road but didn't bother to read
    much.
    That's quite a spread.

  7. Heh. Yes.

That said, there aren't many bikes around that can carry a week's worth
of luggage and allow you to lock up your riding kit out of sight while
    you're away.

I just shoved the Trophy in the T4 bike park while I was away in
Ecuador, came back, bungeed the suitcae onto the pillion, hand luggage
into the panniers, fired 'er up, and was home 40 minutes later. Free
    bike parking at airports rocks.

Yes and no. London's even more expensive to live in that your part of
the world. When I was seriously thinking about moving to Silicon Valley
a few years back the rents were a tad lower than in London (and that
was at the height of the dot-com boom) and everything else tends to be
    cheaper.

Nevertheless you still feel a tad mugged after visiting a/any bike
    empornium for service work.
