Since when?
Black Mike says... I had no idea. I knew he was a toff, but didn't know his background. Is this the same bloke: http://www.burkes- peerage.net/sites/Contents/book/scotland/FHP/Peerage/fhp-CATHCART.asp In which case he's a herditary peer.
Not AFAIAA, but I could be wrong. I always thought magazine references to "Sir" Alan Cathcart were simply taking the "p" at the manner in which he speaks and writes. Also, he lives or lived in Warwickshire, IIRC, although he is probably a tax exile now! ;-)
Paul Varnsverry says... Apparently he lived close to Banbury, near Kenny Roberts headquarters. Dunno if he's still there, don't really care either.
For services to Hoonery, c 1953. I've come across mention of a Sir Alan Cathcart, nothing to do with bikes, and simply thought it a co-incidence.
