    In Swiss-German "Hard" is a grassy area [1], e.g. a paddock, so
    the Zurichois were a bit bemused by "Die Hard".

    [1] And true to Schwytzertueuetsche traditions, the diminutive is formed
    by umlauting the vowel and adding a -li suffix. There were several examples
    in their OS maps of the area around my village with small open areas marked
    "Haerdli".
