    Hey All,
I'm planning a trip from Alice Springs to Perth via the dirt roads (Gunbarrel Hwy).

If anyone has done the trip, or knows the route well, could you pass on any tips or advice you may have.

    Cheers

Are you carrying fuel or going to buy it on the way. Up until recently
only diesel and avgas were available between Yulara and Warburton, but I
was just reading that a new fuel called OPAL Unleaded is available on
this road at Warburton, Docker River and Warakurna. Whether you want to
put it in your bike and burn it for 1000km is another matter. You'd
probably need to contact BP and ask for more information about it.

Opal is the stuff you can't (or it is pointless to) sniff. It should
be fine in most bikes although I think it's only 91RON so high
compression motors might get upset. I doubt you'd be riding an R1 (1)
or MV out there so most off roaders should be fine.
