All Hein Gericke'd up

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by Wicked Uncle Nigel, Jan 15, 2011.

  1. I have new waterproofs. I have spent money at Hein Gericke, in Luton.
    Very helpful they were too.

I just hope they're better than the Halvarssons jacket I bought from
    GLF[1]...

[1]It's not waterproof because it's too fucking short, and the wind
blows water up under the hem, soaking your chest. Unfortunately, Graham
has no interest in discussing the matter any longer, and I'm fucked if
I'm going to pursue his suggestion of attempting to track down another
stockist. Live and learn, live and learn...

If they're half as good as the HG Cruise GTX kit I got a couple of years
ago, you'll be more than happy.

He wound up the shop to concentrate on another project. As SteveH
noticed, it was advertised as a going concern but there were no takers.
The website is still active as he is selling off the remaining stock
    online.

If your Halvarssons jacket's too short you either tried to kid
yourself and bought one that was too small or the seating position &
aerodynamics on your bike are shit.

Mine could do with spraying with a proofing agent again because water
has stopped beading on it but even though it's starting to hold water
in the outer shell I've yet to get wet while wearing it.

I gave my new Sealskinz socks a try out yesterday and my feet were
bordering on being too warm so it was a pleasant surprise to find that
the thin socks I was wearing under them were 100% dry. Goretex socks
are my latest favourite bit of biking kit.

Which suit did you go for? I'm very happy with my King suit (HG fat
    bastard range) so far

Sealskinz are bloody good, they survived a proper 4 hour deluge at 120mph in
    race boots :)

My Master V jacket's getting the special wash treatment at the end
February, as it's started to retain moisture - and it's a bit grubby.
On a related note, a pair of DeWalt builder's boots acquired in our
local Screwfix grand opening sale have proved comfy, warm and
waterproof all winter. Sufficiently comfy that I've yet to wear in my
new Daytona Roadstars. Of course, after two months of use, they're no
longer a pleasant orangey-beige colour, especially around the
gearchange area. Rockiing value at £35.

It's very good apart from the neck fastening. It should have some sort of
adjustment[1] for those who have a head placed directly on top of their
shoulders. It has to be very, very cold for me to tolerate the zip off
collar: in fact I take the car.

[1] I've cobbled together my own extension piece from a piece of plastic
with some self adhesive velcro tape on either end.
