The best way to describe it was as being very quiet.

Loz was there trying to persuade people that they needed to lash out
big bucks on leathers and I caught up with John and Matt from Online
Racing for the first time in ages so it wasn't a wasted day.

There were plenty of stands flogging cheap crap, plenty selling decent
stuff, quite a few very nice bikes and lots of things that I felt I
    needed to buy.

    Significant purchases were as follows:

Brembo adjustable ratio radial master cylinder
    Set of braided brake lines
    Pair of Rev'it winter gloves
    EDZ undersuit
FOAD big 'c' spanner for adjusting the pre-load on rear shocks

Adie spent money as well but she can post details herself if she feels
    the need.

Oooh fucking lovely, wish I could afford one. I'm going to get an 04
onwards R1 Brembo one for the Daytona, as the OE Nissin one is a known
weak point and will always leave the brakes spongy. The R1 job is 125
quid complete but unadjustable for ratio, only span.

Don't be. It wasn't expensive but it looks really trick which is what
    counts.

Use your influence. Let the force overpower common sense.

I'm well chuffed before I've even fitted it. The thing I really want
to try out is the undersuit because everyone I've spoken to about them
reckons they're brilliant under full leathers. I feel the cold really
badly so it should make a world of difference.

Where did it come from, Harris?
Whenever we were selling a one-piece suit at Gericke we'd send the
customer into the changing room with an EDZ undersuit to try when they
tried on the second set of leathers. They always bought one as well. If
they liked the first set of leathers they tried, we just got them to try
the undersuit as well when they went to get changed back into normal
clothes, that usually resulted in an add-on sale too.

    My add-ons figures were astounding.

About £160 but then you have to add on the cost of the 'add ons' like
brake light switch. I wanted one because the brakes on the bike faded
like **** on a trackday and sorting them out is worth the effort as
    far as I'm concerned.

Ah now thats ok compared to the AP radial adjustable from Harris. Who
    did you get it from?

Do let me know what you do and if it works. After the steering damper
the brakes are next for me. I'd like a bit more power and something to
combat the fade - it's not been a problem on the road, but it was at
    Mallory.

Not much better today. Only bought a hugger for my 10R and a Cornish Pasty.

I'll wait until it's all sorted and let you know what it's like.

You might be able to persuade me to let you have a rip on the bike
when you do the TT marshall bit if I drink loads of beer the night
before the course. It's worth noting that I'm off to see the man who
can later this month to have the fuelling fucked about with and the
    predicted results should be 'interesting'.

After today's ride I'm more interested in getting the thing stopped
better. The brake fade has become a road problem too. I suppose I
should start with new pads / less pies and work from there.

I fitted a Brembo radial master cylinder and braided hoses yesterday
and the front brake feels better but only a bit of serious abuse will
tell if it really is better.

If you go down this route then make sure you buy a reservoir as well
as the cylinder because the pipe's a different size on the Brembo. I
managed to sort it by forcing smaller bore pipe over the Kawasaki
reservoir but I'd have paid the extra £15 if I'd known it was needed.
You also need a different banjo bolt that incorporates a brake light
and the whole lot should come in at around £250.

Less pies and new pads might improve your brakes but the Brembo bits
    look good.

Why the **** are you braking so hard ? Can't you use the gears /
    engine braking too ?

Even when trackdaying the 12R the 6 pot tok's didn't fade.
Could be an idea. What are you using in there ? OEM ?

You need to ride faster next time.
ZX10R brakes fade under hard use. I don't know why but it seems as if
once you've made them fade for the first time then they're fucked.
Several people I've spoken to have said that braided hoses cure the
problem but I just went that extra step to make sure I'd fixed it once
    and for all.

When I bled my brakes after changing to braided lines the fluid left
in the calipers came out looking as if it was contaminated, it was
almost black and nothing like the colour of the fluid that was in the
reservoir. This went for the back brake as well as the front so hard
    use wasn't the cause.

Obviously I don't know if this is typical of the bike or typical of
the radial calipers fitted but it's not normal for under 6k miles of
use. I made sure I flushed the system out with plenty of new fluid
before I was happy with the job.

    <Jumps on bandwagon>

I'd suggest that if you're even thinking about (deliberately) using
significant amounts of engine braking on a track you're not getting
anywhere close to the potential of the bike. In simple terms, as I've
always understood it, you should be using maximum acceleration out of,
and maximum braking into, every corner. This doesn't leave much of a
    place for engine braking.
