Alternator Charging System

  1. I have a 1980 Kawasaki 1000, I cannot find the alternator, Could
    someone please tell me where I might find it. Thax

    Have you looked behind the sofa?

    Look in your workshop manual. If you don't have one, I suggest you
    get the genuine Kawasaki manual, it is by far and away the best one
    you can get.

    If you don't have a manual, you really shouldn't be attempting to
    work on the charging system. Actually, I'll go further and say if
    you can't find it even without the manual, you probably should have
    someone else work on it.

    http://www.motorcyclememories.com/ has a good selection of KZ1000
    OEM manuals (and supplements) Typically Kawasaki will do a manual
    for the 1st year of a bike, say 1977 for the KZ1000, and then the
    1980 model will be covered in a supplement. Sometimes they print a
    revised edition of the manual with the original manual plus a number
    of supplements all rolled into one volume.

  3. That's the trouble with these old Kawasakis. Damn alterators wander off
    the moment your back is turned....
