  2. So it was the crappy construction that was to blame?

Give 'em a break. They only spent 2 weeks building the things. My
mother worked in a Liberty ship plant and she wasn't the most
mechanically adept person on the planet, but when patriotism calls...

There are two operational *Liberty* ships still sailing today. One is
the S.S Jeremiah O*Brien in San Francisco, CA. The O*Brien*s engine was
used by James Cameron in his *97 film as a stand-in for Titanic*s
reciprocating steam engine. The other surviving *Liberty* ship is the
S.S. John W. Brown which has its home port in Baltimore, MD. Both ships
are open to the public, and also take visitors on cruises a couple times
    a year.

Actually I heard there is a 3rd one that is a
musuem off the coast of Greece.

I did Google to try to see how many of
Englands ww2 ships still sailing but
    Rednecks & Google non compatible
    sometimes.J/K

It would be apples & oranges anyway
as Englands fleet wasnt built in a hurry.

only 7 ships broke in half--built on a
    Monday maybe
