    Impact driver, isn't it? Different to a plain socket driver.

    When it reaches the set torque, it "rattles", hence the name.

    I am sure it is coincidence, but I note that some of the Clarke DIY
    range compressors are 'Champ' models. Is there something we should know?

    You can get some rather nice cordless impact drivers which shift a lot
    of stubborn fasteners but they're not cheap.

    Mine's an 18 volt Dewalt with a 1/4" chuck. It works great for the stuff
    [1] I use it for. I doubt it would do much on heavy jobs. I see Dewalt
    now has a 36 volt line.

    [1] Unistrut, conduit straps, assembling breaker panels.
