  1. Ebay item 320407570199

OK for £475. The rack alone is worth three figures.

  3. Oh, I looked at that, but it's bleedin' miles away. A total hound, but
there's a lot of bits with it. £500 easy, prolly £600.

Looks fairly tidy, pity about the location.

  5. What are you on? The kickstart's dead. That's unobtainium, and used ones
go for up to £100. Seat's crap, front guard is some horrible universal
thing, rear guard is off God knows what, horrible K&N air filters so no
airbox, even the owner admits it smokes, and everything else is rusty or
corroded. The extra bits make it worth breaking.

Heh, I've read enough of your posts on this topic that even I spotted
half of that and I don't have the slightest interest in buying one.

  8. Slightly miffed about this one. The frame was broken[1], and I think
something like that really, really, really ought to be in the auction
    description, don't you?

"Well, I didn't know it was broken..." said the seller defensively.

Maybe not, but before selling something like that you should bloody well
    look at it.

I took it anyway because I reckoned I had little chance of getting my
deposit back and I I'd get my money back on breaking it.

Actually, the picture has brightened considerably because 10 minutes
work today got the engine running sweetly, and it's a peach. So that's a
decent engine and set of carbs, and the last sweet-running lump I sold
made well over £300, plus about £65 for the carbs.

People will pay decent money if you can prove that they work well
    (engine and carbs).

The rack has cleaned up beautifully.

The chainguard is the best I've seen in years: it looks almost new now.
Under the grime it was fantastic. Can't believe it was the original one:
must have been replaced at some time. I'll be intrigued to see what it
    fetches: I'm guessing at £60-70.

And then there's a very nice Motad exhaust... plus all the usual stuff:
clocks, brake system, electrics. If any of the ukrmc 400F-isti want
anything, let me know. Plenty cheapness (but not the bits I've just
    mentioned...)

[1] Rotted through at the sidestand bracket. A whole chunk six inches
long was just ripped clean off.

    Hmmmm -
Sidestand metal bracket is weak and needs welding/repair to strengthen.
Centre stand is fitted so this can be used instead.

Looks like he knew about it.

OTOH, I have a nice frame here if you want it, already grit blasted and
ready for painting. I have the V5 but there are no numbers on the
    frame.

  10. No, but thanks for the offer. Used frames are only worth about £25 with
the V5, and I've decided to break this one rather than do it up because
it's got some very high value parts on it.

Bah. Pretty much matches my experience with viewing potential track
cars. Most people tend to conveniently "forget" the odd little issue...
