Whereas the Tames Valley lot's first utterance after the R90/6 pull for
102 in a 50 followed by a wheelie alongside their MGB V8 GT was "goes
    well doesn't it."

I got stopped in a mini once in Enfield Town. The cop had been following
for a while and when the rear subframe gave up the ghost in front of him
with a comedic shower of sparks he couldn't resist the line "Excuse me
sir, do you know your rear subframe has collapsed?"

"Sorry Hofficer, I thought it was my haemhorrhoids exploding" prolly
wouldn't go down too well, I suppose.

It was all good in the end. He waved around a bit of sarcasm and enjoyed
himself then went on his way.

They usally grow back after a month or two provided that the nail
bed is not too baly fucked.
You might end up with an odd looking nail with half missing though.

I'm not sure I've parsed your second sentence correctly.

I'm not sure he meant it in a jokey way and none of us were laughing
at the time. Or for about 24 hours afterwards.

This past May 7th, I did a rather ungainly pratfall on a wet metal
walkway and bunged my big toe. It fell off ~6-7 weeks later. The pain
of the regrowth stopped only a week or two ago, or 9 months worth of
    ugliness.

Maybe you should have taken it to a decent doctor.
About 10 years ago I managed to slam my thumb in a van door, smashing
the nail. I wrapped it in kitchen roll and insulating tape to stop
the blood dripping and drove straight to my GP. She took one look
and said "that nail will have to come off". She injected a local
anaesthetic and peeled the pieces of nail off of the nail bed, put
a proper dressing on it and sent me home with some painkillers.
By the next day most of the pain had gone away and within about
2 months I had a nice new nail with an interesting ridge down
    the middle.

Yeah, probably, but I was on the road in Yurp, and didn't want to take
the time out. The original pain went away in a day or so, and didn't
come back until months later when the new nail was growing back in. I
think it was trying to decide if it was going to ingrow or outgrow. It
made the right decision, but it took a hell of a long time to come
    back.

  14. Or expect us to believe that an MGB V8 ran for longer than five minutes
    without overheating.

Used to have fairly sturdy alumimium gaffa tape at PSI.

Maplin has 30 micron, but this was stiffer than that. Probably
this 3M tape from Farnells, at 80 micron:

We've driven a van, delivering stuff like that. Damn bloody heavy it
is, compared to the usual stuff.
