Probably because all the recent Michael Crichton books have been shit.

not read it. in fact, I've not read anything he's written since Congo,
    which was fairly shit.

But his early stuff was OK, and the movie adaptations were really very
good compared to a lot of the rest of the dross from the early 70s.

  3. I don't like the later stuff. Airframe was the last decent one I read.

I remember reading Jurassic Park when it first came out, and being
bowled over by the idea of cloning dinosaurs from blood in insects
    trapped in amber.

I asked The Doctor if it was feasible and she was knocked out by the
concept. The answer was: "Well, yes, ish, assuming a lot of other things
    went OK, you might."

I also got turned on enough by the chaos theory stuff in it to read a
    bit further.

Shame the film left out a lot of the intelligent stuff, really.

You're using a definition of "decent" I've yet to come across.

The Harry Potter films did the same.

I've just watched the remake of Sleuth. I'm not sure if it was worth
remaking or not. At least it wasn't crap, I suppose.

By that yardstick, they should be re-making most of Caine's back
    catalogue.

Whilst not necessarily disagreeing with the sentiment, I fail to see the
