  2. You might have wanted to place a warning with that - the chappy
doesn't appear to be moving much after the noisy bit.

    <Paging Mr. Darwin> Another candidate!

Wonder what the voltage was? I imagine around 20kv, that must have
    really smarted.

I don't think he really cared after that.

While I agree with the sentiment of the warning, I think it was *pretty*
obvious what was going to happen and the likely outcome.

I'm with dnc & Mr. Irvine. I'm not a fan of serious injury/car
    crash/snuff films.

    Yep.
There was plenty of time before the fatality when it was obvious what was going to happen.

and the subject line made it completely clear that there was some sort
    of electricity related stupidity involved.

I think it depends on the circumstances. A lot of comic/slapstick
humour is based on people getting hurt, and although you might claim
"It's not real", you do find it funny[1]. This leads us on to the
aforementioned "Darwin Awards" which get posted here occasionally[2],
which are often funny, despite the fact people die. So is it a question
of it simply being too graphic? If the post had read something along
    the lines of

"Pissed/Smack head/Mong grabs overhead line from top of train and lights
    his own eyes up"

Would this be better, the man still dies.

I think I'm going to dig last nights curry out the fridge and have a think.

It's no worse than the 'safety' films they force you to watcvh on most
    building sites nowadays.

It is better, as it's the sort of thing you read every day. Seeing it
happen is still quite rare though. People obviously have different
thresholds of what they can stomach, & where the line is between
amusing & distressing. That clip doesn't particularly phase me[1], but
the video of the first beheading in Iraq certainly did - the one where
they they hacked his head off with a small knife.

    [1] Unlike dnc, Colin & BGN - so that's three-phased.

    You're muddling two points.

The first is whether or not there should have been a more explicit
warning about what was in the film. My own feeling is "yes" but, as
others have said, once you were into the film it was fairly obvious
what was going to happen anyway, so I can't get worked up about it.

The second is that reading about things, as in the Darwin Awards, and
watching them on film are so different as to make the comparison
    meaningless.

Not side splittingly funny, but quite humourous in the sort of "The ways
people get themselves killed" type way.

Not a fan, it's sobering just how cooked he is after a couple of
    belts.
That's true, going back to when I was employed by what was to become
BT some of the safety films were much more graphic.

I remember mine all too vividly (PO Factories, Bilton Way, Enfield).

"John is using a screwdriver against his hand instead of against a
suitable surface ... the screwdriver slips ... " <image of screwdriver
    right through Johns hand>.

"Fred is climbing a pole but failed to safety wear gloves or remove
his ring ... Fred slips ... " <image of bare finger bone ...>.

    ;-(

Still makes me think though so must have been a good thing.
