I spent christmas in vegas once. It snowed. And I got engaged. Rubbish
    all round!

The first time I came across something like that was when I was in Las
Vegas for christmas and the new year. It was quite a novelty to have a
KFC delivered on christmas eve and know I could have a pizza delivered
the next day if I wanted to.

Personally, I find it a bit of a pain having to take leave (for domestic
reasons) in the middle of winter when they'd be better used buggering
off to the continent on a bike with some friends during the summer.

That, and more importantly IMHO is that it's a lot less crowded. The
flight I'm on is still full, though.

as part of our "alternative christmas" this year, we had chinese
    takeaway delivered last night[0] - v.tasty.

And we're having meatballs and spaghetti later today.

Well, that's the theory - I haven't made them yet. I must resist
tucking into what I got for Christmas[1] in order to stay sober enough
to bring the plan to fruition.

[0] pretty much all the take-away places here are open on Christmas
Eve, and there's at least one local mini-mart open today.
    [1] 1 x bottle Reyka , 1 x bottle Courvoisier, 1 x bottle Whitley
    Neill.

    cheers.

What's sadder: the fact Loz send a "happy christmas" text at 1:50 or
so, or the fact I replied to it 5 minutes later?

I sent everyone in my phone list a happy christmas message, just to see
    who was still awake.

I actually went to bed around 11:00 on Christmas Eve, as I had a
rotten cold, but then coughed myself awake around 1:45. Then I heard
my phone chirrup downstairs, so got up to take a look, and saw the txt
from you. Then I had a couple of lemsip cold/flu caplet things, washed
down with what was left in a bottle of Chardonnay, and went back to
    bed.

I felt a million times better the next morning, so actually, in a way,
your txt message contributed hugely to the fact i had a great
Christmas Day, as it would have been shit if I'd felt as bad as i did
    the day before.

    So, thanks!

Next seemingly kick off at 05:00. Bizarre. S'pose there won't be a
parking problem, at least. Means the staff will have to be up at
03:30 though - and likely won't be able to have a drink this evening,
    either.
    I won't be there.

That's only because none of the other passengers know there'll be a
Jonah on seat 13b, though. If you were to publicise your presence and
your powers, you'd prolly have the plane to yourself. Prolly have to
    fly it as well, though.

I appears I have maligned M&S. It was Debenhams that did the 07:00
    thing.

We felt bad enough troubling a doctor on Boxing Day, I'm fucked if I'd
go out for whatever tat Debenhams were flogging.
    I would expect nothing else.

That's just tough shit on the staff isn't it?

Plenty of us have jobs with an anti-social element involved in their
working hours be it working away from home, getting up early for a
commute or working regular weekends. The really stupid have to put up
    with all three.

If Next staff are unhappy then they should jack it in and go
    somewhere else.

  15. We did that one Xmas. It was absolutely superb. And made a very nice
change. It covered most of the old kitchen table which could seat 10.

That euphemism rather lost its impact once electric starters became
