Reported on the very early news this morning, we learned little about the
accident that took the life of another of us..Few details were available to
report.. The basics consisted of "a motorcyclist was killed at 3:30 AM, when
he crashed into the back of an 18 wheeler while crossing the bridge at Lake
Ray Hubbard.. Some witnesses say the biker was speeding.. Something also
about a girlfriend he was going to "see".. At the ten o'clock reporting,
full details were now available on channel five.. Those details consisted
mainly of reporting that the biker wasn't wearing a helmet.. It would seem
to me that a helmet would have been inconsequential, after slamming a
motorcycle into the back of a semi.. At any rate, we've lost another and
sympathies for the family and friends of this brother should be extended..
Whether he was wearing a helmet or not.. Anyone know of any furthur details
    ?

I heard on the news he had been drinking. Called his girlfriend to come pick
him up, but decided not to wait. Sad deal.....

It wasn't me (although I live just down the road from there). I don't drink
    though, and women hate me.
And 3:30 am is for sleeping IMO.

And besides all that.. you have to take good care of yourself for that trip
to Mexico.. The time is getting closer and we need to tend to the paperwork
thing.. Let me know when it is convenient with you..

(DALLAS, February 23) - Dallas police say a man who crashed his motorcycle
into the back of an 18-wheeler had been drinking. The accident happened
overnight on I-30 at Dalrock. The man had called his girlfriend to pick him
up but did not want to wait and left. The truck driver says he thought he
had blown a tire and pulled off at the next exit. The driver of the
18-wheeler will not face any charges.

I think that it's a pretty good indication when a motorcycle crashes
into something as big as a tractor-trailer rig, at 3:30 AM, alcohol
may be one of the words appearing in the police report.

Just got back from Mexico, (Baja as I am working in LA) and all I can say
is, if it rains, find someplace to spend the day and let the water run
off. I don't mind riding in the rain, but riding in flood water sucks.

A sad loss. I guess the helmet thing is just on the checklist for the
"motorcycle accident story" template the media clowns use when
reporting on something they know nothing about.
