While it would be nice to have somebody else to commiserate with (in
an "I know how you feel!" kind of way), I'm happy that you avoided the
    same fate.

nice red one driven by a very small woman , barrelled the stop and

My own repairs will be practically $0 - I can strip all the
    replacements off my "parts bike".

The other guy's car will be the nasty one, seeing as how I'm self-
insured. His insurance company called today, so I should know by the
    end of the week.

  6. Cracked ribs suck. Forget about laughing/sneezing/coughing/orgasming for the
    next few months.

This isn't my first time with cracked ribs. At least this time I
don't have the broken nose and concussion to go with it.

I really really don't recommend sneezing with concussion and broken ribs
(and I'm sure having a broken nose would only make it worse!).

Glad to see it didn't happen to you but I used to see this prang almost
every day on the way to work. (Or the headlight-glass and remnants of
    this prang).
Dickheads start like they're going to merge and then jam on the brakes
(for no apparent reason) catching the poor bastards behind them in a
Liberace. (And sadly it's said poor-bastards' faults legally).
It's one to learn to beware of.

There's something odd about that report. They don't seem to be blaming
    the motorcyclists!
I'm sure the follow-up will be corrected to include "high-powered" and
veiled allegations of speeding and recklessness.

  15. Might have something to do with the fact that there are lots of motorcycle
riders in Government in the USA who let everyone know they ride.
Not like here, where the politicians love to ride around in their chauffeur
driver cars and impose penalties on motorcyclists, even after it is proven
that the car driver is at fault

Oh no, this one was entirely my own fault.

  17. Not trying to lay the blame on you BT, but I was having a go at the
politicians, who suggest , table and legislate then enforce the penalties

sheesh ! you do come out with some half baked observations George ...

summit to do with your rapid ageing and declining functions ?

FWIW the present President and his predecessor in the White House
are both cyclists - that Bush fellow is a competent but inept mountain biker
but this hasn't had much impact on the way that cyclists are treated
pollies don't impose penalties on motorcyclists George - the courts do that
and/but sometimes the pollies can and do step in when the courts do get it
    wrong...

watch what happens to/with a couple of legal eagles recently involved with a
    hit and run fatality

  20. For what it is worth to you, there are many members of Congress in the USA
    who ride motorcycles
There are also meny motorcycle riding lawyers in the USA

Where the **** did I mention the president or past presidents of the USA?

The politicians make the laws, deem the penalties, put them through
Parliament and pass them, then they go to the courts to be supposedly
    adhered to
So, there goes your argument down the drain doesn't it?
If politicians can and do step in when the courts get it wrong, then that
says clearly the politicians are above the courts rulings

A court case, is only an argument or a debate between both parties and
whoever can convince the judge that their story is more creditable, they
    will win.
You can look it up yourself, but there has been many cases where the
defendant is clearly guilty, but they have got off the charge because their
    argument was a better one
