Driving licence, marital status and sexual orientation? IMO of those only a
driving licence is relevant to an employer and it's a footnote, not on the
    front page.

and sometimes insert completely fictitious information.

I was once interviewing for a contract position requiring a range of
    J2EE related experience, including Hibernate.

A candidate came down (to London) from Manchester. I did a general
intro to the requirement, asked some warm up questions, and then asked
something like "Describe the pros and cons of using Hibernate as an
    object/persistence tier".

He replied, "I don't know anything about Hibernate"

Me: "Why's it the second listed skill on your technical summary, right
    after J2EE"

    Him: "WTF!!!"

The agent had inserted the keyword as he knew that's what I was
looking for. I got them blacklisted for that.

Sexual preference is on all of the online application forms, but i'm

It got to the point where we'd advise candidates to bring a copy of
their CV with them so one person could double-check it while the other
did the basic introductions, before getting as far as the interview
    proper.

    Recruitment agents in cunts non-shocker.

I've never ever applied for a job were they'd need to know if I'm
married or not, and it's been over 10 years since any employer would
have cared if I could drive. One place did ask during the interview if
I had anything against working with homosexuals, but they didn't ask
    concerning my own sexual orientation.

I've never been asked if I had anything against working with
homosexuals, but I have been asked whether I'd have anything against
working with sales and marketing people.

the 2nd worst bit of this whole "risk of redundancy" thing I have at
the moment is dealing with them from a consumer POV.

When we were looking for a couple of bods last year, I gave the
recruitment agency a few technical 'pre-screen' questions to ask
candidates on the phone. They sent a couple of decent looking CVs, so I
rang the agents to see how those candidates had answered the questions.
"We've sent them the questions, but they haven't replied with the
answers yet"... Talk about missing the point entirely. Useless fuckers.

That one's been pretty much mandatory in every job I've worked in
since the mid 90's, but purely because I've worked for IT services co
where travel to customers is part of the job.

heh, my first draft of the post said, "sexual preference, my arse",
    but I decided to re-word it ;)
<VBG> That'd be enough to make any sane man go postal ..

It's the Krauts, they even expect a photo. Marital status, yeah, I
    think I'll remove that one.

Err no problem despite the interesting introductory comment! I have no
idea why I didn't hear your call as I was in the supermarket at the
time and the phone was certainly on. Last night though it was as dead
as a dodo but I usually hear an irritating bleeping noise to indicate
    low charge.

I hope you got to where you wanted to get to.
