Dangerous driving - not speeding. Pled guilty.

Video shows error messages from speed gun thingy.
    "Error 03" "Timeout"
Maybe they had no machine evidence of speeding and
blagged the dangerous driving and he fell for it.

Not that I approve, but I approve of dodgy prosecutions
    even less.

"I only went faster 'cos it was raining" - dearie me.

Never mind reality, just look at the soundbites the jury would have been

    120mph.
    Rain.
    Child on the back.

I wouldn't fancy his chances of being found not guilty - and being found
guilty after a trail is going to give a damn sight worse penalty than
pleading guilty and saying you were very, very, very, very sorry.

To be fair, surely this is a good thing? The guy appears to be a prized
    wanker...

Not at that speed, I'm sure the plod would send it to court whatever
    he said.

    For a kick off he doesn't own a GSX-R, he has a GSX1300R; there is a
difference. He may see 220mph on the clock, but the needle won't ever
    reach it.

Nothing wankerous about what he did on the bike, but he pleaded to
"dangerous" when all he was doing was speeding.

    Which is a bit shit.

If you watch the video you'll see his speed registered at 122mph over
a distance of 324.3m. Yeah, tell that to NASA.

You can't legislate for idiots and you can't expect everyone *not* to be a
complete **** either, so he won't be the last.

Bare handed, but the best quip came from his solicitor ****. "He accepts
that his son was on the back". That's fucking smart that is.

Plod don't send it anywhere. Plod refer it to the CPS who decide whether
to prosecute and on what charge.

Error 03 means that the camera was moving when the reading was taken.
"Unstable reading due to poor aim or panning off of target". This means
that the reading couldn't have been accurate. He should have pleaded not
guilty and got a brief. All his brief would have needed to do in court is
to ask the plod witness what "error 03" means. Even the most prejudiced
judge would probably have to throw the case out if the prosecution is forced
to admit that their "evidence" is completely unreliable.

Yep, I'm pretty sure the clocks don't even go up to 220 on the later
models (post 2000), much less indicate it.

And if they're going to take it through the courts anyway, which for
120mph speeding is a given, they'll have no qualms about leaving the
'dangerous' charge on the sheet as well.

    Quite.

They can prosecute with dangerous and run the risk of the jury finding
the defendant guilty of careless, but not the other way round.

which is exactly correct - you wouldn't want a jury to be able to up
    the ante, would you?
