Another GPz550

  1. I must be farkin' mad.

Well, you see, the one I've bought is fine (I've done over 350 miles on
it), but needs side panels with decals. And a rack would be nice. And
maybe a gear lever with less slop in the linkage.

    And this came up....

So I reckoned I could get the parts I wanted, and simply clear the rest
out on Ebay. And, as you can see, picked it up for a song.

The Chateau now has nine bikes. This is getting silly.

It's taken you this long to realise it?

I thought that was already a given ...
    Heheheheh, that's not silly, that's ...

    er ...

I was trying to think of summat witty, pithy and not too deprecating but no,

Don't see why. I've stripped plenty of bikes recently, mostly 400
Fours. The small stuff - CDI igniter, reg/rec, surviving instruments
and switches - will all go quickly. I just stick that sort of thing up
for 99p and no reserve. There's *always* someone looking for a CDI unit
    and a reg/rec.

I *might* swap the engines over, if the spare is better than the one
I've got. My existing one uses a little oil, like about 500mpp, which I
think is within tolerance for an old air-cooled GPz. It doesn't smoke
or leak, so I dunno where it goes.

Or I might pull down the spare engine and offer the cams and/or head
separately for someone wanting to jazz up a 550 Zephyr or similar, or
who's run the top end on theirs.

Tank, brakes, etc - no worries. Wheels - 99p, again. Whatever's left
gets sold as a job lot, again starting at 99p, buyer collects, and the
frame goes down the council tip. Job done.
