    have just started assembling outside the office here - some very
    impressive looking trucks, including a couple of those "I am a driving
    god!" heavily modified landrovers.

    You and I know that, but Ogden's possible future buying audience may
    not. High mileage hits values of bikes quite hard, for archaich reasons
    going back to when even a Japanese bike was only good for 30K miles.

    Quite. Because there are so many people buying bikes but not actually
    riding them, the market is awash with ridiculously low mileage examples
    and anything with more than 2k/year on the clock is going to not just
    suffer at resale time, but actually be harder to sell at all unless
    significantly discounted.

    The ideal situation for me is to buy a bike that's slightly underpriced
    and has below-average mileage on the clock, ride it until it the mileage
    has caught up with the age, and then sell it on for a reasonable price.

    Of course, the reality is buying a ten-year-old stroker, riding it for a
    weekend, and finding it won't start after that. Ain't life grand!?
