Commissioner, actually she's not a real judge[1] (Lisa Steingart
Department 86). The fuckwit that hit me was cited for unsafe lane
change. He contested the ticket and had it dismissed as there was not
'reasonable cause'. Three witnesses (one was a reverend) stated he cut
me off and failed to signal the lane change. She let the defendant rant
on about how dangerous motorcycles were and basically told me I was
wrong every time I tried to give my statement.

Has anyone else experienced anything similar?

[1] remember this if you ever see her name in an election.

I don't have a need to get even at this point. I was curious if anyone
else had a similar experience with dept. 86. If I found a pattern, it
may call for action. The fuckwit got out of the ticket, but his
    insurance rates will be higher.

  4. Who really cares if he got out of a cite for an unsafe lane change? Of
course you do deserve to be heard I agree with that. It sounds like the guy
is a major asshole and could care less. The ticket would probably just make
him mad and he'd just take it out on the next poor rider who got in his way.

Stupid question time, what is Department 86?

Its the principal of the matter. The motor cop that wrote the ticket and
did the accident investigation could not believe she let him off either.
Well, I'm sure he's none too happy his insurance company settled out of
court. BOL a white Ford exploder.

Yes. In 1991 I was driving my '64 Rambler on River Road from
Guerneville back to 101. I came over a rise and there was a flatbed
truck on the shoulder that pulled onto the roadway in front of me,
forcing me to head for the shoulder on the other side of the road. I
ended up flipping the car over and totalling it. The CHP came by and
cited the truck driver (who worked for PG&E). My attorney took me to
Sonoma to testify at his hearing. Despite my testimony and that of
the CHP officer, the judge chose to acquit him.

Ultimately, PG&E did make a reasonable settlement offer, but it took a
couple of years, and I suspect that the driver's acquittal probably
added to the time it took them to do the right thing.
