Just had an SMS from Bonwick:

"Sun shining, 23C, beer and bike racing. You tosser."

Sent him the Metcheck forecast for tomorrow[1] to shut him up.

    [1] 30mm of rain.

  9. So I gather. Bollocks. Oh well, I'm off on my hols[1] at 0500 tomorrow
and I had a million things to do at home anyway.

[1] A week on a Turkish gulet, bimbling around the Aegean. Can't wait.

  11. I do, actually. Dry heat I like, which was why I was quite happy going
down the Nile last summer, in August, and that was even hotter.

Air-conditioned cabins help at night, of course.

Grrrrrr. Fucking annoying pieces of shit. We were sailing round the
Lycian coast for a couple of weeks, and found them unpleasant in many
ways, not least their habit of playing chicken with you, hoping that
you'll alter course for them, even when you're sailing so
automatically have right of way, then leaving their course changes so
late that you feel like their sitting in the cockpit with you. And
privacy? Woke up one morning to find one had anchored less than 20m
away from us, arriving (noisily) around 0600.

The Turkish seas would be much nicer without them.

It pissed it down in the middle of the night but up to the point when
we left (11am this morning) the longest period of continuous rain was
    about 30 minutes.

I was surprised we didn't have to sit in the beer tent for a couple of
hours at some point over the weekend but it really was sunny for the
bulk of the time. It got really windy a few times and we thought the
gazebo was going to go missing but all in all it was a really good
    weekend.

Niall Rowan had the sense to wait until Saturday morning before
committing himself to going and I half expected the same from you but
he said you were adamant that it was too cold and wet for you and that
    was the end of it.
