Fourteen miles meandering with a mazy motion.

And The Doctor has just reported that Sutton is under six inches of
snow and the roads are chaotic. Hohum. Might be late getting home
    tonight.

We had something of a blizzard in Wimbledon earlier. Furthest I've
commuted is from the bedroom to the sofa, so I won't care what it's like
    out there til tomorrow.

Sutton can only be what, 30 miles from here, and we have no snow on the
ground at all. We're just getting the odd flurry now and again.

As for the subject, good God, no!

Sutton is about 7 miles from here, and here's the view down from my
    kitchen window...

I tried, got four houses up the road and realised it was crazy, went
home and jumped in the 4x4

And when is the UK finally going to wake up to the idea of winter
    tyres?

When it's worth having them for more than a couple of weeks a year.

I think we've done this enough times to know that they're better in
any conditions when the temp's lower than about 7C, so for several
months, even of your pathetic eenglish winters.

Better than last night's run from Coulsdon to Moorgate.

Might not be much fun going home, though.

Cold and damp is the worst Im expecting.

  12. I've got a newly fettled and welded CB250 frame sitting in garage that
I hope to have MOT'd by the end of the week. I'm going to give it a go
in the snow if there is any...

Better, sure, but how much better? Cost/benefit time, innit. I've just
replaced two tyres on my Leon because they were so old they'd started to
    crack.

No. It was cold enough yesterday. Even with a glove liner it was still
freezing. I thought I was going to get frostbit at one point, then it
    stopped hurting.

Got mine! Definitely helped me squeeze past a stuck HGV on Saturday
morning. They are staying on until March.

did I mention my new tyres already?!!
    http://tyremen.myshopify.com/products/23545vr17-vredestein-wintrac-xtreme-xl
Bloody amazing they are. Went out last night after 11, turned off traction
control and put them to the test. As good in snow as a 4x4 on road tyres but
stops more quickly. I'm loving the take off from traffic lights Vs the
    "competition"

It's all very well saying we only get occasional snow in the UK. It can be
frequently occasional and I'm really fed up with the cunts that block the
roads every time, especially the Trucks.

Given how much better they also drive/stop in cold conditions I really can't
see any reason for the UK not to adopt a 01/11 to 31/03 winter tyre rule.
I'd also like to see it made a requirement for all trucks to carry snow
chains for the 2 main driven wheels over the same period.

I've been very happy using the uncleared overtaking lane, leaving the 20mph
    *cunts* in my powder.
