Anyone fancy helping lift an engine?

Discussion in 'UK Motorcycles' started by The Older Gentleman, Sep 18, 2005.

  1. I collect the spare GPz550 next weekend. I may do an engine swap,
depending on how good the lump is - it's 10,000 miles less, for a start
    - but I really need a spare pair of hands to get the thing out of the
frame (which has to be done anyway).

Anyone in S London fancy a hernia next Sunday?

    The Older Gentleman says...
Find an old mattress, lay the bike on its side, undo all engine mounts
and then lift the now lightened chassis off the very heavy engine. I've
    done this loads of times.

  3. The thought occurred - there's also the matter of replacing said engine.

Does it have to be Sunday? I'll be in Sutton one day/evening next week. Not
sure what day until I get to work tomorrow.

The Older Gentleman scribbled on the back of a napkin:
Well, I have to go to Brizzle sometime Friday or next weekend to pick
up a cheap ebay cage I just bought. You're on the way back so I could
drop in and we could take care of the engine.

Oh, and I could drop off those Joe Bars at the same time...

  7. Sounds cool. You could stop Saturday night, food, wine etc, and we could
    tackle it Sunday.

I'll keep you posted - the whole thing depends on the Inswearance
getting the cover note to me in time, something they are not
necessarily well known for. Otherwise I'll probably just ride up on
    Sunday morning...
