I am not, but it wouldn't surprise me a bit if Wakko made the run.

When is he due back from Alaska, anyway?

I'm back now. Was due back a few days ago, but had a flat in Washington. It
seems that nobody has flats on Sundays so I had to wait a day to get it
fixed. That flat cost me more time than I had at first realized, as I had
planned to get up and over the Sierras at the end of the day and ride into
Vegas at night. Instead I got to the mountains at dark so I had to wait
until the next morning to cross them. That put me in Nevada right at the
    hottest part of the day.

120 degrees. Blacktop reflecting the heat up into my face. Nothing in the
way of trees to provide shade. I would get hit with a blast of even *hotter*
air and had to look at my hands to see if the skin was bubbling up like
fried chicken. I thought maybe my gas tank had ruptured and I was on fire.
I pulled off the road to find some shelter in a restaurant and sat there for
4 hours, unable to move. Drank 3 liters of water and waited for the sun to
    go down some.

I had wanted to continue on through Arizona and New Mexico, but the thought
of more of that heat discouraged me. I thought "Screw this!" and headed back
    up north through the mountains.

I had rain all the way east of the Rockies, but ya know....I didn't really
    mind that much.

So, to answer the question, since it took me an extra 3 days on this trip, I
won't have enough time to get to Sturgis this year. Next year for sure!

WOW! Sounds like you had a hell of a trip there!! I hope you got
some pics and some journal entries to post up on the net somewhere.
I'd love to do something like that one day.

Good idea about stopping to drink water and wait for the sun to go
down. I'd have probably had to do something similar.

Yes, very safe. Allow me some time to come up with a few lies for a ride
    report.
