  5. I live just up the hill from it, but this is a working week so the
only bit I'll be attending is the free bit on the Saturday (and a
Ulysses web forum dinner on Thurs night, cause a mate will be there)

All my roads have been closed since the bushfires. I have barely ridden
    a bike for 2 months. :(

All caravans should be seized and burnt by the roadside as a warning to
    others.

There is no good reason to restrict speed when towing to 80kph.

I tow the boat and trailer, the camper trailer and (until I recently
sold it) the caravan (single 16 foot Jayco Expanda) at an easy 100kph.

They're comfortable at 110kph but that'll get you booked most places
    when towing.

It's idiot caravan drivers that are the problem, not caravans themselves.

  11. And you were probably the bastard who passed me coming back from Echuca
while I was doing 110, this car with a boat trailing behind, passed me as if
    was standing still,
Were you late to get the school bus out Geoff?

Nope, not me. There are a multitude of speed boat owners who think
130kph with a boat is ok though. I own a polycraft centre console
(plastic) fishing boat, not a speed boat (100 is fine for me and not as
annoying as 80 to the other road users).
I don't drive these days hardly at all, and If I do it's only to take a
replacement vehicle to a driver from the depot. I spend 90% of my time
in the office, and most of the rest doing inspections or purchases.

Certainly is in WA, with an open road limit of 110 for most roads
    outside built-up areas.

Speed limits that apply for certain vehicles and drivers
There are speed limits placed on certain vehicles and drivers even
    though a higher
speed limit may be permitted for other vehicles or drivers:

Provisional drivers can drive up to 110km/h (where this is the maximum
    speed limit),
but should remember that they are still gaining experience and need to
    take extra
    care.

    Max Limit
    Learner drivers 100 km/h
Vehicles towing caravans or trailers 100 km/h
Buses and coaches over 5 tonnes
Gross Vehicle Mass (GVM) 100 km/h
    Vehicles with a Gross Combined
    Mass (GCM) over 12 tonnes 100 km/h

They shall be crucified just beyond the burning caravan. Bodies to be
left as a warning to others.

That's a dreadfully thoughtless and uncaring thing to say Doug!

You KNOW they should be towed a safe-distance from the road beforehand so
they don't pose a risk to anyone.

  17. I used to tow my Sports Sedan on a 4 wheel trailer at speeds up to 160
km/h (this is a lie orrificer). It was perfectly stable and behind a
5.8 litre ESP Fairmont Ghia, the car had the weight, the brakes and
the grunt to handle it. I think Mr Plod might have disagreed with me
    if he caught me though.

No, not here. You can pull a van/trailer up to the posted limit when
that limit is 100 or less. When the limit is 110, which it is on most
country roads in WA, even half-way to work for me, you are limited to
    100 km/h.

As is also the case in Victoria (although we have a lower % of 110kph
    roads).

Yeah, that is the case in WA as well... drive there and you'll notice
that the speed limit for caravans and trucks is posted on big signs
    about every 50km.
