No bike's cheaper than the one you already have. So to speak.

What would you actually want checked on what is basically a new bike,
bar 500 miles? If you want it, buy it, then walk if it's not as
    described & trash his feedback.

Sorry, next week I'm mostly in Cheltenham.

Wouldn't be too bad if I'd scheduled a visit to Tenby, as it's on the
way there. But that's not in the diary until mid June.

was rather hoping not to make the trip to find I have to walk when I get
    there

just looked at the diary - realistically, the next time I can take a day
out to go to Llanelli, pop into M&P or Busters in Swansea to buy a pair of
gentleman's touring trouser and have a whizz around the Brecon Beacons on
the way back is the BH weekend.

Essay to do this weekend, practice portfolio documentation the next
    weekend.

Let me know if the bike does not sell and is still available then.

My latest justification for considering yet another bike is that my leg
has a bastard great big bruise on it from the Tenere landing on me last
weekend and I can buy a cheap dirt bike for about what it'll cost in
multiple crashes if every weekend ends up like the last one.

Obviously the cheaper option would be to not go riding off road but it's
fun and it gives me a chance to look for sympathy from Adie....

That's fine until you ask if someone can look at a bike in Portsmouth
and Vass decides he's sooner cut the grass with nail scissors.

It's a 120 mile rount trip - not like it's just down the road, ffs.

It's like asking someone who lives in Portsmouth to check out a bike in
    London.

    ....but not get it.

I'd have bought a couple more bikes by now if there was room in the
garage. Curse you, V's scooter (and the spare fridge, and the workbench,
    bicycles, shelves, toolbox, etc).

    There's a big non sequitur ...
... and there's another. Good work Andy - chase those dreams.

    <pays self a fiver>

I've said it before & I'll say it again: anyone who thinks they're
going to do proper off-roading in the UK on a big trailie is deluded.
    It's just hard work.

II may have already found one or two to look at. Working in the Lake
District where every man and his dog goes green laning does have some
advantages. Obviously there are different versions of cheap ranging from
£500 for an XR250 Honda to about £1.5k for a nice little 2-stroke KTM
    but nothing too frightening.
I didn't say I expected to get any sympathy.

Hard work doesn't even start to describe it. I blamed the ache in my
legs on the crash but the reality is that just riding the beast nearly
killed me. The biggest problem was that on one or two long stretches
where it was fairly flat and grippy I couldn't resist winding the bike
up and every large bump was a kick up the arse from 200kg of bike.

    6.5 on the flounce-o-meter Andy.

Not bad for a man in his condition :)
