I went to Fish Hill, & brought some of it back with me.

Watching the F1 qualifying now, & wondering if Massa's dead. Another
'debris hit his helmet' they reckon.

Ah, but did you mean to?

I went to Sunderland Air Show [1] - ringside view of the Red Arrows.
    They're as impressive as ever.

[1] bike really is the only way to go. I bet some cars are still
    queuing.

He's been talking to Barrichello in hospital, so I presume not.

Thankfully, yes. I did have one mildly hairy moment when I had to cross
the cats eyes whilst cranked over to avoid someone coming t'other way
who got it all a bit wrong. Just a little skip at each end though, so
    nothing too dramatic.
Last time I saw them, they crashed. Also quite impressive.

He was either very lucky, or very unlucky, depending on your point of
    view.

It was certainly a bit of a moment.. I wonder who Eddie's "well
trusted source" is? Cos while the others were still trying to create a
bit of drama he announced Massa was basically ok.

They seem to think it might have been something off the back of Rubens
car, which I guess is at least partially why he's gone to see him.

If all I'd seen was the in-car footage I'd be sure he was dead, the
way he just ploughed on after being hit.

The voices in his head probably. The guy's a total idiot.
That's probably just because they're best mates. But yes, almost
certainly the bit Rubens lost from his car, & on the YouTube slow-mo it
    looks like a big spring.
If the UFO was a few inches to the right, I think he'd be very dead.

It was from the rear suspension of Ruben's chassis.

Can't work out why it was bouncing down the track though, there didn't
appear to be anyone in front of him....

It's a spring, it was traveling at 100 mph+. It probably bounced for
quite a while. Masa had the misfortune to catch up with it.

    Well there is that..
Well, hit in the head by your best mate, that's not so bad.

I feel a bit sorry for Rubens too.
I've just looked at that YT footage and yes, he would.

Hellgod, that could have been a whole lot worse, not just for Massa.

I was there myself today with a couple of mates. Didn't read UKRM
Friday night so didn't see your post.

For which you are probably grateful.
