    Anyone used them for approval/disapproval?

Specifically I'm after a Lazer Revolution, cos I've had two previously
    and I like them.

  2. Looks like a good range of stuff, only problem with buying helmets
mail order is that its hard to know if they will fit. It means you
have to spend time in a shop, asking questions and trying on helmets
that you know you have no intention of buying. If you know what you
want and know it fits, then why not use them?

and as I found, there is no guarantee that HelmetX made in 2011 will be
exactly the same shape/size as the one you bought in 2006 as models are
updated or just made by a different third party.

On a £300 helmet I happily pay an extra 10% or so to a retailer who
provides a facility for me to try helmets on. I'd like the shop to be there
in 4-5 years time when I want the next helmet.

I tried to use a local stop (HG in Stockwell) last time I bought a lid,
but they didn't have the colour I wanted (plain black ffs) in stock and
I vaguely recall some hassle about ordering one in.

    So I bought online guilt-free.

I'd always give a shop first dibs though, because I'd rather have them
around for trying things on than not.

Thanks for the feedback. I've usually just bought from Graham at GLF,
over the phone, but he's stopped selling the Lazer Revolution .... the
    ****.

What, like closed down proper? <Looks> Oh yes. When did that happen? I
must admit I only looked at the website a few days ago (when I posted
this thread) and I must have clicked a link bypassing the home page so
    was blissfully unaware.

Off to spend the millions in "extras" he's lifted from his punters'
    wallets no doubt. ;)

Graham stopped selling Lazer helmets about 4 or 5 years ago. The
Revolution is an ancient heavy design that's been bettered by many
other helmet manufacturers since you bought yours. The original design
must be at least 10 years old now, and helmet design/manufacture has
moved a long way forward in that time.

If you knew Graham you'd know it was the exact opposite. The shop
wasn't really paying then he was offered a bloody good sales directors
position, so he took it and closed the shop.

  9. I did have a similar experience at HG in Luton a while back, I was
surprised (Why?) by the apalling lack of product knowledge concerning
helmets. I did in the end buy an Arai mail order.

I wanted to give a HG sales boy a slap when I overheard his waffled
explanation as to the advantages of spending more money on a fibreglass
helmet compared to a £40 polycarbonate job.

I was only tyrekicking whilst waiting for my car to be serviced so fucked
off elsewhere to waste time rather than get in to a row...

I've only ever spoken to him on the phone, but he's saved me loads on
purchases. "You don't need the full widget, I'll send out the
    replacement bits" etc.

It's just others in here have posted on his reputation to sell them
what they need when they only went in for a whatsit. Hence the
    smiley.

I'll have to have a shop around. I can't believe I've had mine over 4
or 5 years. I *really* need a new one.
