I'm going to miss the Cinque ports tour.

A young lad ran out in front of me in traffic this PM and I lobbed the
bike while trying to stop, he was OK and the bike is still rideable
(approximately) but I've done enough damage I wouldn't want to take it
to far away before I get it fixed. I've severely bent the radiator,
bust the clutch lever and gear lever and some other smaller bits and
    bobs.

I've got a few grazes to my elbow and I've bruised my ribs which
wouldn't be so bad but I've got a cough too. Oh Well there goes a
reasonable record at avoiding self harm.

I'll be doing it Solo soon.
If you didn't want to come you could have just said 'no' - I know I
can be intimidating at times but trying to kill yourself as an excuse
for not turning up isn't going to impress anyone.
I trust the bike is insured fully comp... what are you getting next?

I'm glad you're not too badly hurt. See you in Derby? Two or four
    wheels it doesn't matter.

When I was idiot enough to ride my pushbike out in front of a car, the
driver claimed off my parents' third party cover, which was included as part
of their home insurance. That was eighteen years ago, but I assume it'd
still be the case in these more litigious days.

Well, I've got to drop out as well - I've got to pick up the RX-7 with
its new roof on Saturday morning and I somehow doubt that I'll make it
    back in time for 10.30...

This is true. I lobbed a bike for the same reason. I am haunted by the
thought that the little sod could have done it again to someone else.

No he was over the road by the time I got up and didn't look like he
was about to pop back and share his details with me. And I'm only TPF&T
so that'll be a bit expensive.

I'm truly thankful I didn't knock him down, his fault or not. I was
filtering down the inside of a row of cars waiting to turn right at a
set of lights and there was a van parked up on the left; he ran out
from in front of it. I suppose I could have been going slower given the
van was obstructing my vision. I hit the brakes and tried to turn to
the left to miss him which is what took me off. The pedestrian
controlled crossing at the lights was about 10 metres away too.

    The little bastid.
I know it's no compensation but I'd sooner fix my bike at my own
expense than kill a kid and have my bike fixed by their parents home
    insurance.

Crashing sucks but nobody died and it's only a bike.

He does. I'd never met him until Chimay.

He can't ride for toffee though.
