Aprilia V4 cutaway

This is curious:

It looks like one cam is driven by the cam-chain and then the other cam is
gear-driven from it.
I wonder if there's an idler-gear or do they contra-rotate.

 

looking at the size of the internal gear I am thinking Contra..

the V-strom has idler gear and no way would Aprilia be see doing the
same as Suzuki ;-)

explains it clearly. "The exhaust cam is driven by gears..."

 

A V4 Aprilia. Now you've got me interested.

I enjoyed my ride on Jase's Mille but V2's are just not me. This
sounds like fun in a light frame.
