Are you allergic to nuts?

  1. Not a question I was expected to be asked before I went on site at Drax
Power Station today. Apparently they burn nut husks as biomass fuel and
people with nut allergies are strongly advised not to visit site.

Interesting place though, never thought I'd get on-site at such a place
    - wish I'd had more of a tour.

My Dad was a project manager or something similar on the construction
of Drax just before I was born.

Actually got my dates mixed, it was probably the second phase he
worked on 85-86 because we moved here when he'd finished.

It's quite a good crop for biomass fuel. It grows on really shitty, even
boggy ground. Some bloke from your part of the world has adapted a forage
harvester to speed up the coppicing. His product partially fuels the
    Sembcorp biomass generator on Teeside.

There's a very good pension and death in service benefit for being a
    henchman.

It's a shitty old coal fired station and you can think yourself lucky
    you didn't go any further.
