    ..au:
The road from Dorrigo to Bellingen (en-route from Armidale to Coffs)
is a good-un. "Dorrigo Mountain" it's called. All bitumen, all bendy,
all downhill (unless you're going the other way, then it's all uphill!).
The other road from Dorrigo to Coffs (via) is great fun in a small car
(I mean Datsun 1600 or equivalent!), not sure I'd take it on with a
bike though (unless the bike was a GS or a TDM or something to that
    effect!)!

GB, it's been a long time since I've done the Dorrigo to Armidale bit,
so I don't really remember. Given the general propensity for roads
in that neighbourhood to be fun, I'd say your info is correct!

No, like the NSW state government, he redefined what "on time" meant.

Oh, and cut the number of trains....

My firewood is free. I do have to cut it up myself though. If I'm frugal
there's enough dead timber in the backyard for maybe 40 years.

Thats the stuff - have to explore the area, half the fun of moving.

Sounds like theirs a lot better roads than here.

we got the sturt highway, east or west, flat strait, nothing to see, doesnt
really go anywere i wana go either.

  17. Don't forget the Bruxner and Gwydir. The Tabulam - Bonalbo - Urbanville -
Killarney way is a bit how's ya father but the boring/bumpy bits just make
    the good bits better!

  18. Strange that no-one has mentioned Thunderbolt's Way as a ride from Armidale.
Apart from the Oxley and the Waterfall Way, there are numerous backroads
that can be travelled from there. I spent a week there recently. Try the
roads out through Yarrowyck, or the backway through Kentuck and down to
Walca Road (unique pub made from an old rail motor - the original pub burnt
down and is being rebuilt). The reverse cycle airconditioning is the way to
go as it gets bloody hot there in summer as well as brass monkey weather in
winter. Gotta watch the fog in the early morning as well.

That'd be Yarrowitch, Kentucky and Walcha Road I think. Walcha Road pub
do excellent meals btw (or at least they have been for about 10 years
and were still doing so 12 months ago)
