For mine the road from GI to Grafton is better than anything outside of
Victoria! (I've never ridden in Tassie, NT or WA).

There were a few bumpy sections there the last time I rode it in 2002,
but I was under the impression that they'd sealed all of the gravel
now. I've been down worse roads, and I enjoyed them too.

And if you don't mind the front roads I reckon the New England Highway
heading north out of Tamworth is loads of fun, mind you I've only done
it once, at night, in the middle of winter and I was inadequately
attired for that occasion, but I seem to recall some great twisties just
north of Tamworth helping me keep my mind off the ice accumulating on my
    leathers.

  5. Also a point to remember, Armidale is a "country" town. That is almost
everything closes at 5 pm on weekdays and 12 am on Saturdays. Target,
K-Mart, Coles and Bi-Lo are open to 4 pm on Saturdays. Not sure if much is
open on Sundays. Even the pub I was staying at (tattersalls) didn't open on
a Sunday (but this was earlier in the yaer before uni started up).

  8. I've only got about five years worth left but buy then there'll be more!

From my days up there, MB, I'll think you'll find some cocky's are glad to
be rid of the die back. Some of the more frugal used to give out contracts
to wood cutter/carter/sellers but plenty of others were more than happy for
you to make room for more grass and clover to grow. All you'll need is a
chainsaw, box trailer, and block splitter. If you play your cards right one
load of wood can heat you _three_ times and save on gym fees!

    Yep; all sealed now.
A very nice road (although I prefer the twistier, Grafton side of Ebor)

When I said "go up the road to Ebor" I did mean all the way to
Grafton... and from memory all the gravel bits were on the Grafton
    side.

In a country town often the only cheap beer is at the Supermarket
bottlo. So yeah... that can be bad.
    Can't really argue with that!
