  1. After getting up for work, I get in and one of the distribution managers
looks at me like "Eh?", I think for a moment and say "Am I supposed to
be on holiday?". "Yes", he says but "do you want some overtime?".

"Not bloody likely", I said, "I'm going home!"

    Heh.

  5. Double heh, thick **** set of for work earlier in this year.
Didn't notice til about 10 miles into the journey how quiet the roads were,
then someone on radio 5 asked how everyone was enjoying this sunny bank
    holiday morning.

I turned up for work on a bank holiday Monday once. Couldn't work out
why the carpark was so quiet until accosted by a guard.

  8. In uk.rec.motorcycles, Hog belched forth and ejected the following:
    Heh.

*And* I'm still sat here in my fucking uniform!

God, "Sometimes it just isn't worth chewing through the leather straps".

I was going in early to do some testing at 7am last year so I set my
alarm clock to wake me at 5am, and I set off for work at 6am. I
hadn't noticed that during setting the alarm I'd also put the clock an
hour or two forwards and arrived at work before 5am. Very quiet, the
    roads.

I sat down and tried to log in and was told by Win2000 that I was "not
permitted to log in at this time" - glanced up at the clock on
wallboard as it flashed up 04:52.

    <sigh>

  10. I've not done the BH thing, but I've turned up for work an hour early
    when the clocks changed.

I knocked off an hour early, when I accidentally set my 'world time' watch
to French time. Luckily my supervisor didn't notice.

  14. That will be because your Active Directory login (assuming your place
uses Acive Directory) has been configured to only allow you to login
during business hours (or business hours plus a couple either side).

    It's quite common.

Heh, I'm not restricted from logging in, so that may actually say
    something...

I'm not sure why they have it.

I can just leave my PC logged in all night and I can use it at
    whatever o'clock in the morning

  19. Because Microsoft built it in to Active Directory..
Yes - that's because it's a restriction on *logging in* and not on use.
