The Triumph is running like a bag of bolts today, just. When it's not
cutting out and backfiring, that is. Bloody useless old British cack.

    Gah.

True. 'Owever, it looks like clogged up fuel filters may have been
    the cause. <rings TMS>

You seem to be gently moving towards a collection of unreliable stuff.
If not "unreliable" at least stuff that requires a lot of fettling.

    Gently? Speeding headlong....

Actually the Morini generally needs little more than routine
maintainance. Tonight was just check tyre pressures, chain
adjustment, clean the plugs up and put a new connector on the postive
lead to the battery. The Triumph should be relatively OK but I guess
    I'm still shaking it down.

But yes, I've been thinking about a more modern bike alongside the DR-
    Z.

Make me laugh some people,' bloody useless old British cack' indeed. Pah.

I rebuilt my old T110 engine in '70/71? Still goes like shit off a shovel,
never missed a beat. Only maintenance it's had is new pistons about 17 years
ago because the petrol was crap, took out the 10.5:1s and put in 9:1s. Put
some petrol in a couple of years ago out of a canful I drained out of the
Range Ruster and, like yours, it was cutting out and backfiring. Nipped
down to local BP place, got some super unleaded, drained tank and carb,
stuffed the super in and has run OK since. I couldn't find anything wrong,
that's why I tried the petrol, I'm wondering if you have a similar problem?
I've no idea why it wouldn't run on the normal unleaded, it must be crap.
By the way, the old girl still runs ok but is smoking now on the right hand
pot and the oil pressure telltale button doesn't bother coming out when it's
hot, I think maintenance is going to be needed soon.

    Nipped
It normally runs fine on Super unleaded, which was what was in it, but
the filters were pretty clogged so I bet thatg's the problem

Bad guess, Honda 600 Hornet, new BM, a poxy scooter and an 'Ardly Movin'son
in the last couple of weeks among others. I take it you've only started
riding in the last 20 years? :)

    1971.

Well, if you don;t know what point you were making....!

Anyway, new fuel filters fitted and the Triumph is running proper.
And it's my wedding anniversary so I'm off to Chapter One at
    Locksbottom for dinner.

Well well, that rattled your cages a bit, gave me a good laugh, but just
remember I didn't start it, Champ did. The point was I was only trying to
help by mentioning the fuel. Soon get upset these young 'uns y' know. :)
