Me too... but I'm most happy he was wrong on that one. Any decent modern
PC would wipe out a galaxy in a matter of seconds :)

Indeed. Inaccurate, but heartfelt. I'd like to think he'd like that.

    Bollocks.

My bet is that was 'Of Time and Stars', a classic. A few others from
    that book I loved....

"Trouble with the Natives" - First contact goes a bit squiffy.
"No Morning After" - Life can be lonely.
"Robin Hood, F.R.S." - For when you *have* to get to that supply rocket.
"The Fires Within" - Don't look down.

  5. "Were going out" IIRC, but I can't be arsed to check.

Ginged already. Never mind. Let it stand. It's a nice epitaph, misquoted
    or not.

  6. Oddly, I don't think he was actually a good writer. But he had ideas
that ranged way further than any galaxy imagined by his peers.

But you're not the intended audience. Science Fiction is for virgins.

I'd certainly agree with that. Shite film I've no desire ever to see
    again.

The only French bloke in Paris who is regularly insulted here is Nicolas
    Sarkozy.

I watched it a few months ago, it was projected onto a huge screen on the
side of York Minster from about 21:30 on. Fucking freezing but enjoyable
    nevertheless.

Not so. There must be at least half a dozen I'm happy to re-watch.

I don't recall WUN ever taking a cheap shot at me. Though that may
have been effect of the rohypnol.

That's my take on it - it was his breadth of imagination rather than
his writing. Plus the cheesy joy of Arthur C Clarke's mysterious world
on TV. Opened my eyes to possibilities outside my rigid imposed world
    view.

Give him time and the slightest hint he'd get away with it and he'd be
shagging your leg like a 10 month old pup.

Nah, he loves Mrs WUN. Or fears her. Or both. There are far more puppy
    like UKRMers.
