What on earth has happened to the old dear?
My renewal notice is in and cover for the 5 bikes has jumped 100%.

So is there a new Clit Insewerance company that covers Norn Iron.

That's really bad news. I've been with AC for at least 10+ years, got
one quite special bike on it. I hope my premium doesn't jump as many
    others appear to have done.

Yeah, what happened there? They were wildly uncompetitive for car
insurance for me, as well. A whil;e back they were trying to float a
"six-wheel" scheme: car plus bike[1], presumably on the reasonable
assumption that you can't ride/drive more than one at a time. That
    idea never seemed to materialise.

[1] Well, OK, I'd need a 16-wheel policy, but you get the idea.

My renewal a few weeks ago was competitive, especially when you factor in
    the Euro breakdown

However, I only have one bike and live in a low risk postcode.

I've noticed increases this year. I'm assuming that whoever bought
Auntie Carole now wants to improve the return on their investment.

However, competition is so fierce that the first price quoted is by no
means the final price. When insuring Number One Son's Honda 250 Super
Dream, the fact that MCE had managed to come in with a sub-£300 quote
got CN's price slashed from over £400 to £290.

My own renewal is due on the Duke, Beemer and XT. That's £290 FC,
    which is fine by me.

I've been with them for something like 15 years, claim-free. Plus I
chop and change bikes a lot and each change incurs a fee of about £30:
Timo once speculated whether the two of us actually paid more in
documentation fees than we did in premiums....

I suppose it's business they want to keep.

I negotiate with them too. Got my renewal last month at a very reasonable
£240 fully comp (with all the extras) but had a look round and found other
quotes. When I phoned them I got the price down to £190 plus they added
    protected no claims to it.

Me neither, bikes have usually been fairly competitive once I factor
in the european recovery or the difference is so small I canna be
bothered to change. Their agents handling of my claim when I was
punted off three years back was pretty good - although my daughter's
claim is still ongoing and her solicitor has been changed on her and
the new one seems a bit dim.

I don't know. I used confused for the other quotes, ignored the
actually cheapest, some odd T&C and I am currently looking at ~£235. I
am going to call the present insurers to see if they'll reduce their
    £348 renewal.
IIRC there was a MAG 6 wheel scheme some years ago but I never
    bothered getting quotes.

  13. I've been hoping to find a good broker who's clued-in enough to find a
decent underwriter to take me on with just such a policy. I'm sick and
fucking tired of paying seperate policies for every vehicle - no such
thing as two or three on the one policy here, the robbing cunts.
    If I could find a 6, 8, or 10 wheel policy I could have a choice of
    vehicles any day.

    Sorry about that.

Mind, Aunty's renewal was actually not bad considering the loss of
    no-claims.

I was expecting to have to buy a popper from BGN, but I managed with a
    smidgen of butter.
