An interesting project but just how "completely usable" is it going
to be. Power delivery is going to be interesting and docile is not
going to be on the menu. Could prove to be a bit of a handfull in
    traffic but ICBW.

Based on not looking at any diagrams I've a theory.. I don't think
you have any imobiliser, and because of this you aren't getting a +
feed to the bits that it's circuit would normally feed.

On the road bike the logic of the imobiliser will live in the ECU, the
key end of things will just send a signal to it via the 'aerial
doofer'. The fuel pump and all the imobilised things will live on
the end of a wire from the ECU, and will only get their + once the ECU
recieves it's signal from the aerial doofer..

So, as that bit of feed and logic probably doesn't live on the race
ECU at all what you may need find all the things that live on the
immobilised side of the + feed, on the regular ECU, sling that + feed
via a relay linked directly to the key.

This may of course all be wrong. Perhaps you should scan the 2 loom
    diagrams.

If you're using Adobe Reader, you can click on the wiring diags & they
turn blue. You can then right-click & select 'Copy Image', & paste it
into a spreadsheet or something. They're in two bits each, but you can
paste both into Excel then drag them together.

If you really want to you can send that to my gmail address with no
worries. Not going to have a lot of time to look over the next couple
of days though. I'm up to my neck in network issues this afty then
fucking off to the countryside to be as far from computers and
    telephones as possible. :)

Or just do a screen grabs with Ctrl/Alt/Prt Sc. Paste into paint and cut
and join as required. Email finished image to me and I'll FTP it to a
    server.

    Agreed.

Right tool for the job, an' all.
....but there are spreadsheets other than Excel out there...

    I did say 'or something'.
It's actually bloody useful for wiring diagrams as you can use the
column headers/row numbers to help track the wire you're following.

10Mb is the normal limit for attachments to mail - to get anything larger
through, you'd need to have a higher limit on every single mail server in
    the chain.

Just one glance at page 518 of this had me going boggle eyed.
Not sure it's the right model year though.

    1. print just that page
    2. in print dialog options, choose "save to pdf"
    3. you get a pdf with just that page in it.

Hmm. Found a PDF for what appears to be your model, with the ignition
wiring diagram all on one page (506).

Scanned though so not good image definition. Used reader picture tasks
to export the page to photo shop elements and save as jpg.

Problem is, on zooming in, my old gimmer eyes can't decipher the colour
    coding for the wires.

    Best I can do:

Indeed. If you have full adobe or a PDF print driver. Some pikeys don't!

I have, but the resulting graphics are no clearer. Might be OK from
    Champ's 'proper' PDF document though.

That's one of the pages I've been looking at. The immobiliser link to
the kill switch is the only obvious thing. There's no mention of the
immobiliser in the starter circuit diagram, & no difference in the fuel
pump or starter motor circuits between the UK (with immobiliser) & US
    (no immobiliser) diagrams.

Oh, I played with that years ago. Try pointing it at a really complex
word document. Or perhaps it has improved lately.

OK for a PDF page clone though no doubt.

Having seen the diagram here's my approach to fixing it had I
    sufficient time to waste.

Print the whole uk version and with several coloured felt tips trace
each of the wires from the ECU amplifier to wherever they each end up.

Then rewire those end points back to match wherever they go on the US
    diagram.
