Apparently the channel 10 news reported that the mraa and the police and
transurban have come up with a compromise that there will only be ONE
circuit of the tunnels beginning at 4.30pm
This to me smacks of a backdown by the MRA because I personally don't
know how many will be able to make it now if its only a single circuit.
Thats okay boys bend over and take it as usual.
THIS is why I wont join the current Mra.

Unfortunately doug many a person down Victoria way don't like the way
the mra is run down here.
I like what the nsw people are doing as they seem to have their act together.

this generation of riders have to run their course
the mra has to change its ways in order to suceeed.
I am only one person in a sea of apathy.
If only Zebee and others lived in melbourne.

I read your post in netrider forum Martin
I reckon they can't do anything if the official protest is called off
    after the specified time.
what's to stop people from riding round and round after the protest has
finished and the organisers have left?
they are legitimate road users and so long as they are riding legally
then the cityling people have nothing on them.
what are they gonna do sue each rider personally?

We are legitimate road users and in reality the mra should get their
solicitors to look at it first before they backed down.

If the protest has officially ended after the single pasthrough then its over
whats to stop people from still riding around and around afterwards?

    Fair call there.

The current board has too much infighting.
    Thats why i wont join.
    not in its current form.
it's a catch 22 and I'm sure many people see it this way.

Fark! They should at least frigging start it at 5 or 5:30 then. 4:30 is
awfully early when you have to work to pay for your petrol money.

    Nothing at all.

My point was that as an organisation, the MRA is an entity that can be
targetted. That's why Critical Mass can get away with what it did.

Sm> We are legitimate road users and in reality the mra should get their

Maybe they did. I wasn't there, so I don't know.

Yep, can't argue there. And unfortunately, while people do think this
    way, nothing will change.

Perhaps I'm the eternal optimist. But I'd like to think that if people
got behind the MRA, ignored the politics, perhaps it could achieve what
    motorcyclists need.

Whatever, it's a free country (for the time being) and people are
entitled to think what they want, and associate with what/whoever they
    want.

I'm just wondering if the Asio Bill had got up in its original form, if
they'd test their new powers out by locking up the organisers of this
    protest (and even Critical Mass)....

  13. There are cameras in the tunnel aren't there? If they've got lawyers with
any sense they'd not only sue MRA but the riders doing the laps as well...

    Geoff and Jodie

[1] I may not believe that the MRAA is still a credible organisation with
the Powers that Be, but that doesn't mean I'm going to go out of my way to
hurt what little chance they do have of being heard...

  14. We need _everyone_ who hates the MRA to do laps of the tunnel on their bikes _all fucking night!!!_
    LMAO!!!!!!!!!!
And you dont really think they will do 1 lap and "go their own
    way"....

  16. There are cameras in the tunnel aren't there? If they've got lawyers with
for what? Using a public road? Its not illegal "YET" for bikes to be
    on the road!

But there's an idea though. A grass root organisation might be a fair bit
more effective than one organised by people with their balls in a grip.
