The bulbs in my rear light (IIRC: 12v 21/5W) seem to blow very
    frequently.

I understand this is a common problem due to vibration.

Can anyone recomend a suitable bulb that's more resistant to vibration
    or any other practical solution.

Not to mention that the vibes were bad enough to fatigue and snap
soldered connections - I can't see anyhting lasting forever under that
    sort of duress.

  5. Although IME LED's still suffer in the back of B12's, however they do so
    far less frequently.

    YMMV.

  6. The OP could do well to experiment with rubber/foam mounting the light
    unit if there's room.

I had the same issue with my B12, in the end I sawed off the back of
the light unit and made my own strip light of LEDs and a few
    resistors. Problem solved.

I use a red oil lamp nicked from a passing guard's van, gimballed off
    the Renntec rack.

  10. Do you use Esso Blue in it, though? Might cause a purple light.

Of course not, you silly boy. That would constitute a hazard to
navigation. I always use recently-rendered bio-oil, distilled from
yokel moleskin squeezings and old chip fat.

  14. Some rear light units dance about alarmingly, unknown to the owners. I
recall being behind a boxer twin at the lights some time ago and the
rear light unit on that was bouncing around like a demented crossroads
    dancer freshly escaped from RiverDance.

Since I was riding a boxer twin myself and was suffering more than the
normal plague of blown rears, I took notice and rubber-mounted my own
unit. Easy done, as you say.

I didn't know BSA made a B12, is it similar to an A10?
