Anyone had a ride on one of the new $13,000 baby Harleys?
    Any good?

    Cheers,
    Mark.

Do you mean the Sportster 883 Superlow?
    If so - yep, me!
I love it - it's so good to be able to put both feet flat on the ground :)
Manoeuvrable, responsive, heaps of torque down low, comfortable seat. I
really like the fact that it doesn't have forward controls. Cruises happily
at about 120kmh, but I'm not so crazy about feeling as if I'm about to be
dragged off it backwards at speeds over 100kmh - it's hard work to hang on!

You might want to consider a screen. Doesn't have to be a big one,
any kind of wind break works.

The MZ was a much easier bike to ride at speed with a little bikini
fairing (off a Z thou) on it. The GT really needs one too.

I had one on my R80, and SWMBO had one on her GS500E. (Well,
actually, they were Street Shields but we didn't know about these ones
    back then.)

May be, but they don't appear to think Sportsters exist.

Thanks for the info. I might just go and buy one. As Dave Moss
mentionted, my legs got a fair bit screwed in an accident, and being a
shortarse with bad feet scares me away from the bigger Jap bikes. I like
to have two feet on the ground, so if one of the feets stops working for
a moment, I am less likely to go over arse over tit! ;_)

When I was 25 years old, and scared of nothing, a mate let me have the
keys to his Suzi 1300. I could not feel safe on that thing then, let
    alone in my dotage!

I owned a 68 Sporty, which was just the right size!

    Thanks again Betty,
    Later.
    Mark.

If you can get yourself up the hill you can take my Honda Shadow around the
block a few times. I've got short legs too and it suits me fine. Right now
its locked in the garage for a few months till my knee ligament grafts
    strengthen up.
