eh? Did you not say "Why?" when she expressed this desire.

Personally, I'd ask her to list the benefits she perceives from such a
    thing. That should settle it.

Then again, in the armed truce that is a relationship, it's sometimes
better just to let things go :)

I used to think like that. It's lovely not having to any more.

I *think* it's mine - I seem to be having somewhat creative thoughts
today. Enjoy it while it lasts.

    Good oh.
Would you believe I've had nothing but paracetemol since two days
    after the operation?

Everything bloody aches this morning, tho :-(

I'm still amazed that this is the case, but it does seem to be true.
Mind you, paracetemol was what was offered in hospital, so I guess
they start low and move you onto codeine if you need it.
Yebbut, NSAIDs inhibit bone growth, so I've made a point of avoiding
them, and was confirmed in this when, on admission, the registrar made
an entry on my notes of "No non-steriodals, post-op". When I was
offered Diclofenac the day after the op I said "I thought that was an
NSAID?", to which they said "it is", and I said "no thanks". I
*really* need this operation to work, so I am not taking *any*
    chances.

    Heheh.

I thought I'd try to ignore the issue and hoped it'd go away. ATM,
she's not said anything else and the sticker has gone missing (down
the side of the sofa). If she hasn't forgotten and brings it up, I may
have to resort to point 1 and then give in on point 2. :)

Actually, I did a google after that post and the question as to
whether NSAIDs inhibit bone growth is far from settled. But, as you
can imagine, it's a dice I don't want to roll.

  9. Hmm.. Sad to say - I've never been a huge fan of the "lets see how many
long words I can fit into a lyric" Scottish bloke..

He's not *that* bad. My eponymous song hasn't any tricky words at all
and only one reference that wouldn't be widely understood.

Script and Fugazi are still amongst my most played albums.

  11. You *might* like Credo then - sort of Fish-era style neo-prog band
    doing original stuff.

Playing at Riffs Bar[1] in Hook near Swindon sometime soon. Well worth
seeing. As are some of the other bands (Thieves Kitchen - modern jazz
meets prog with a bit of folk in the mix for example). Credo are there
    on Friday 10th October.

    Phil.

[1] Owned by someone who used to work here. And now has more prog bands
on since he's known me :)

I see on the lunch time news that Adrian Edmondson is just about start
doing gigs with a folk/punk fusion band. He plays the mandolin, it
    seems.

SWMBO is going to see Seth Lakeman at the Wulfrun Hall on the 22nd.

I *think* this was in the prog stuff boy child was playing before he
sodded off to what sounds like drink fuelled debauchery. A bit twiddly
    in places.
I'm in London early the next day or I would have come down.
Well done. It's not far from Bath so next time I'm there rather than
elsewhere I'll find out what's on.

I haven't met you, but yet have the distinct impression you know
exactly what the song is about. Shame the single currency has taken
away another of Fish's multi-layered allusions.

Riffs is about 2 miles from me, so if you do make it down & need a
crash pad, just shout. Leftie Oirish blokes welcome too.

I confess that I do like "Seasons End", but for me, "Holidays in Eden"
wasn't good. Then "Brave" really put me off. So I stopped listening to
    them after that.

Do you reckon that the newer stuff is really better? Have they improved
    since "Brave"?

Ta muchly, will do, Next time I'm down is in a couple of weeks, we're
out on the Saturday but could come over on the Friday when these are
    playing

"The ROGUE DOLLS + MATILDA + JAZZMINE DAVIES

Lets hear it for the Girls. A fantastic night of R&B, Jazz, Indie by
    the West’s top girl bands.

The Rogue Dolls are an all-female band whose award-winning members
have a collective musical background in Blues, Jazz, Rock, Classical &
Pop (Having worked with artists such as Morcheeba, Steve Winwood,
Jools Holland, John Williams, Sam Brown, Paco Peña & The Swingle
    Singers)

Their energetic, infectious live shows are filled with great original
material, vocal harmonies and amazing musicianship. At last, a girl
band that is all about groove and nothing about gimmick."

I think they might be awful...
