    Yesterday I travelled by motorcycle...

....and sidecar. Burnt turned up with his K100 and chair, so we went
    for a spin. Blogged here : www.champ.org.uk/blog/

Is there any compelling reason why you don't get a blog?
    Oh, hang on...

All bets are off til after tomorrow. Possible outcomes range from
'stand up and walk' to 'we need you back under the knife'.

That explains the text message I received from him yesterday about
cracking a certain speed on his outfit. It's all your fault...

    Hark at big nose!

Anyway, the worst outcome for me would be "hmmm - not sure - lets wait
    another four weeks and see."

Oh no, that was all my fault. Well that and competition; I guessed
you'd be building yours soon so I needed to crack the ton first.

Which I did. Probably a good job I fitted the steering damper.

....and today I'm out of the wheelchair, and on crutches! This feels
like such a big deal. And, somewhat to my surprise, the doc has said
I'm ok to drive. So, ordinary life can start to resume a little.

    Blogged here www.champ.org.uk/blog/ as usual.

Ahh, not all roses then. And remember, you can show your face at work,
but don't offer to do anything!

    Congratulations, ya little cry-baby![1]

[1] I think I can understand the emotion, tbh, even though I've never
    been in the same position.

No. Really, today's x-ray looks exactly like the one from 4 weeks ago
    - no sign of any new bone at all.

Apparently the favoured option is to remove the nail and then put a
'reamer' down the middle of the bone. This sprays out little bits of
bone, which then sort of seed the bone re-growth process - it's like
an internal bone graft. And then they put the nail back in.

    Ulp.
heh. Tomorrow I'm going to attend the leaving lunch of a colleague,
and then meet with our HR person to discuss a 'schedule' (my word) for
    my return.
