AOL and the black/silver models look so spiffy too.
While they can be a little hassle to wear I reckon it would be easy to
fit them permanently into a jacket.

  7. Well, one almost certainly saved me a bit of grief once (apart
from anything else, the bike flipped fifteen feet in the air and came
down on top of me as I tumbled). Couldn't save my neck from the 70 mph
face-plant though. :-( (Last time I looked the site hosting my report
had folded; I think there were mirrors but I guess I have to hunt through
my archives for the original some time.)

  9. The honeycomb is meant to collapse under impact, thus attenuating
impact energy. What happens, however, if it fails to collapse? Then one
needs a shield between honeycomb and wearer which will prevent the
edges of the honeycomb cutting through to the wearer. A layer of thin
plastic, backed with foam, or a layer of thicker foam alone would
probably suffice. This would add cost, however. How much does the
Dainese back protector cost? The link says £109. I wonder how much it
would cost for a product which has addressed the potential failings -
not that I'm suggesting a Dainese product of that price point could
    ever be "substandard". ;-)
Certain of the Italian clothing companies are reportedly lobbying for a
dilution in the severity of the European Standards (source: RiDE
magazine); presumably because the kit they would prefer to sell doesn't
    meet the standards.

I seem to recall a Ride test where a Dainese BP came out top above the
    Knox though?

I don't knock all Dainese kit. My current leather jacket is good and all
the seams properly constructed. Some of their waterproof jackets are
great. The Assuan gloves uttterly rock, the most waterproof, warm 4
finger gloves you can get IMHO.

Other stuff they do is clearly shite, boots and helmets come to mind.

Hi Adie. Feeling much better thanks. My spine still has a kink in it and
my ribcage and back hurts like hell when I've been upright for a while,
but I'm on the mend. I just have to lie down a lot for the next month or
    two.

I was riding home along a country B road around 10.30pm and as I peeled
ino a right hander I got confronted by a shiny silver 4x4 coming the other
way on my side of the road.I picked the bike up straight and squeezed
leftward between him and the verge and fence and left the road narrowly
missing the alloy chevron signs and lost control on the downsloping grass
bank. I managed a 180 degree pirouette parking the bike against the fence,
and did a wonder woman off the high side, and landed about 6 feet up in a
sturdy bush/tree. I lost consciousness and apparently the emergency
services came along with a saw and pruned me out an hour later and carted
    me off to hospital.

No sign of the driver, who left the scene without stopping as far as I
    know.

They scanned me for internal injuries which is when they spotted the
    busted vertebrae.

I was in the hospital for a couple of weeks until I stopped taking pain
killers for long enough to convince them it was ok to let me go home.
