We've just booked an apartment in Menaggio (Lake Como) for the end of
September so stand by for reports of bad weather sweeping the Italian
    lakes area at that time.

No bikes this time so maybe we'll be able to spend our hard earned
money on food and beer rather than reducing the national debt of every
    fucking country we pass through.

Looks nice on Tripadvisor pics. Not been that side of the lake, myself.
What happened in Italy, apart from scoring loads of ipoints on the radar
    screens?

It looked ideally situated for trips out and of all the European
countries Italy is the one where we have the least problems finding
food that Adie likes. The fact that I like Italian food and Peroni
beer has nothing to do with it.
We'll be going through France & Switzerland (possibly Germany as well)
and they're proven enemies. I'd say there's also a chance of us going
into Austria as well and Adie's got a bit of a track record there so
I'm hoping we have a fine free holiday.

I dare you to go back to Landeck via the St Moritz bypass...

Neither of them did the Italian leg on last year's run so clearly Andy
simply doesn't have the balls to run the gauntlet.

Menaggio is more or less in front of the village where I'm from!
End of Sept is a good season for chestnut picking. Let me know if you
    need suggestions for itineraries nearby.

It was quite fun doing the Como-Brunate hill climb road on the Nordwest
in 94. Pretty sure Guiseppe got up there quicker in 1909 though.

Bellagio was worth a visit - you could do it by boat from there
    presumably.

If you have wheels and want to look at SO Italian bikes there's always
    the Guzzi museum at Mandello.
