Oh what a lovely time I've had over the last week and a bit! At last, some
leave... and my last day at work was horrible enough to ensure I wouldn't
have second thoughts about taking time off...

So - my plans to ride hither and thither via Oberon, Lithgow, the Putty were
buggered up by forecasts of snow. I like an adventure, but draw the line at
a solo ride on potentially snowy roads (yeah yeah, pikerbetty strikes again)
.... so I went up the boring as batshit highway/freeway/motorway route to
Greta (near Maitland) to visit long lost friend TC. The weather was crappy
enough to make the ride quite challenging, thank you very much, especially
the truck-ridden bit of Sydney where my visor kept fogging up despite my Fog
    City insert.

So - great time with TC (who's the mum of my daughter's best friend from
primary school) AND - the best bit was that she decided, while I was there,
that she would finally bite the bullet and get a bike! She is now the proud
owner of a lovely GPX250, named Wee Jimmy in honour of the fact that we ran
into Jimmy Barnes while we were having lunch at the Tempus Two winery. I can
see some future return trips up that way, when TC gets her Ls.

An abstemious night with my out-laws in Warners Bay was followed by a
splendidly liver-killing stay at gracious host Pisshead's place. Holy
dooley, he makes a mean curry!!! (Thanks Pisshead, was absolutely lovely!)
Those of you who are familiar with my, um, accident prone-ness, and my
penchant for throwing men out of wheelchairs, will be pleased to hear that
Pisshead and his chair were both still intact when I left, although he did
look just a little nervous as I launched into the goodbye hug <snigger>.

The next leg of the trip, after a night in Canberra to check in with the
cats and collect clean clothes, was down to Moruya for a few days. My old
high-school best mate was playing in a tennis tournament there. The ride
down the Clyde was lovely. The ride back up today was also lovely and then I
ran into more hideous weather. Just as well I'm not a bloody fairweather
rider or I would've wasted my entire week of leave with my head under the
    doona!

I wish I could say I'd had some magnificent riding, punctuated by wonderful
catch-ups with friends and rellies - but quite frankly, the riding was
shite. Thank goodness for the lovely friends and rellies who were welcome
ports in the storms, and who made my week off so very pleasant! Life is
    good!

Holy shit; there's a woman who CAN make a decision!!
Sounds like a good time BB; even if the transport bits were a bit dull.

What?! All he's ever served ME is dial-a-pizza!

(Although that's usually pretty tasty, too.)

  8. A mate of mine in Lonny does this on a regular basis, usually drunk
around 2-3am on a weekday. Thankfully I sleep very deeply around that
time and he usually can't wake me. It was funny when I was living in
the UK as it would be around lunchtime, the unfunny bit was I was
paying quite a bit for the international roaming even if he called me.
We have a bet that I'll outlive him (he's 21 years younger than me)
but if he keeps this up, I'll kill him just to win the bet :)

Jeez, I don't remember if or what I ate at Pissheads ...

Remember smashing my cheekbone on the table on the way down to inspect
the floor though ... a couple of times. Moike also had trouble working
out how to get onto the bed later that night ...

    Cheers

You'd probably remember the following 6 hours at the local hospital waiting
    for a tetanus shot too!
